How is Technology Changing BPO?
Computer Weekly recently reported that a perfect storm is brewing between customers that want to cut additional back office costs due to continued budget pressure, and suppliers that want to create additional services and the revenues that go with them.
Ten years ago, companies were trying to outsource non-core processes primarily to cut costs. Although lower unit cost is still critical, companies now want more, and are grappling with the opportunities presented by continued globalization, new technologies such as social/mobile collaboration and a new mindset for problem solving and dynamic process work.
As a result, the role of CIOs are changing to that of business technology change agents within enterprises, or the person that unlocks value between the intersection of process and technology.
But as technology continues to shape BPO, are tech providers really giving HR practitioners what they want?
